The Caterham Superlight R500 entered production in 2008 under Caterham's RSA-series. The car is powered by a 2.0L Inline-4 Ford Duratec Engine and features a six-speed sequential gearbox. The R500 was the most powerful car in the RSA-series before the debut of the R600 in 2012.
The "White" edition of the Caterham Superlight R500 has been used in the second part of the Spring Edition Spot the Devs which occurred on April 22nd, 2013 and where it was made available directly after the event.
It's also the first car by Caterham to appear in Need for Speed: World. The car comes pre-equipped with Norset and Richter tuned parts and two-star Nitrous and Socialite Skill Mods.
The Caterham R500 Superlight has a top stock speed of 305 km/h (190 MPH), which is slightly below average for a high Class A and Class S contender. The R500 has strong gears so it has powerful acceleration, but after the fourth gear the acceleration will show a decrease in power.
The handling of the R500 is also fair, as it has go-kart handling, meaning the handling is sharp and responsive, however, the R500 will easily oversteer and the handling is sensitive. The nitrous output is very strong also in addition. Since the R500 is extremely light, it is an easy target for ramming and colliding with traffic vehicles will be more critical compared to other cars.
Since the R500 is an extremely light car, bringing it to Team Escapes or Pursuit Outruns is not recommended. It may have the acceleration to pull away from police interceptors, but it will be tossed around by them and disabling cruisers will be extremely hard. Ramming into roadblocks will also result in being stuck if not careful. Hitting a Rhino in this car will force it a fair distance back or bring it to a complete stop.
