The Volkswagen Golf MK1 GTI (full name: Volkswagen Golf Mark1 Grand Tourisme Injection, also known as Volkswagen Rabbit in the US and Volkswagen Caribe in Mexico) was introduced at the 1975 Frankfurt Motorshow and was set into production between 1976 to 1983 and where it was powered by a 1.8L inline-four cylinder engine fed by a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection.

The car is known as being the first "hot hatch" ever made and is also remarkable as being ranked as the third best car ever made in the 1980's by Sports Car International in 2004.

In 1980 this car received a minor facelift where its circular headlights were changed to rectangular headlights instead.

Editions

Green

The "Green" edition was released on September 30th, 2011, and is the SpeedBoost variant of the Golf. The car comes pre-equipped with Amerikon Speedsystems.

Uberbunny

The "Uberbunny" edition was released on November 22nd, 2011, and is a custom variant of the Golf and was built especially to celebrate the upcoming return of the Forest Green Country Club Ski Club in 2011. The car features Gromlen race-tuned performance parts, 2-star Skill Mods and aftermarket parts. The car also features an unique snowboard attached to its roof.

C-Spec

The "C-Spec" edition was released on January 9th, 2013, as part of the Best in Class-series edition cars for Top-Up. The car comes pre-equipped with a mixed set-up of performance parts, 3-star Skill Mods and aftermarket parts. It also comes with an unique rust patina Hood.

Orange

The "Orange" edition was released on January 28th, 2014, and is an In-game Cash variant of the Golf MK1. It does not feature any pre-equipped parts.

The Volkswagen Golf MK1 GTI has a stock top speed of 217 km/h (135 mph), which is average for class D. Its acceleration and nitrous output is also average. Due to its low curb weight of 810 kg (1,786 lbs), it can exit corners in high speed, and is one of the advantages that this car has for races.

In Team Escapes, the Golf can pass rhinos with ease, but due to its low curb weight, the car may have problems if rammed head-on by a rhino, or stopped completely by a roadblock. The same is true in Pursuit Outruns, where destroying police interceptors and getting cost-to-state counts.
